“Enchanting and Inspirational”: PM Modi Praises 14th Ahmedabad Flower Show
PM Modi praises groundbreaking floral achievements in Ahmedabad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed profound admiration for the 14th edition of the Ahmedabad International Flower Show, emphasizing its exemplary fusion of creativity, sustainability, and widespread community participation. In a social media post on January 2, 2026, he described the event as enchanting and a shining example of the city's vibrant spirit and deep affinity for nature, noting how its grandeur and imagination continue to expand annually.
The exhibition, themed "Bharat Ek Gatha," meticulously illustrates India's rich and diverse cultural heritage through intricate floral installations divided into six distinct zones, each highlighting elements such as Indian festivals, traditional dances, ancient history, mythological narratives, and contemporary progress. Held at the iconic Sabarmati Riverfront, the show features over 30 lakh flowers arranged into more than 170 sculptures, blending artistic expression with modern innovations like QR codes for detailed information on displays and an advanced sprinkling irrigation system covering 10,524 square meters to ensure eco-friendly maintenance.
Inaugurated on January 1, 2026, by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in the presence of dignitaries including the Ahmedabad Mayor and municipal officials, the event runs until January 22, 2026, coinciding with New Year celebrations and attracting nature enthusiasts from across the country. Accessibility measures include varied entry fees, with complimentary access for certain groups and special rates for students, alongside premium slots for optimal viewing times.

A standout achievement this year is the securing of two Guinness World Records on the very first day: the world's largest flower mandala, measuring approximately 33.6 meters in diameter with an area of 886.789 square meters, precisely surveyed using DGPS technology, and the world's largest flower portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, spanning 41.17 meters in length, 8 meters in width, and covering 329.360 square meters, honoring the Iron Man's contributions to national unity.
This remarkable hat-trick marks the third consecutive year of Guinness recognitions for the Ahmedabad Flower Show—following the longest flower structure in 2024 and the largest flower bouquet in 2025—solidifying its status as a global benchmark for horticultural innovation, organizational excellence, and cultural celebration, while elevating Ahmedabad's profile as a UNESCO World Heritage City.
