Elon Musk Revives Epstein Controversy with Swipe at Trump Over Unreleased Files

Elon Musk Took Another Veiled Jab at President Donald Trump

Billionaire Elon Musk has reignited speculation surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case, taking a pointed jab at U.S. President Donald Trump via a post on X on July 7, 2025.

Musk shared an image titled "The Official Jeffrey Epstein Pedophile Arrest Counter: 0 0 0 0," captioned, "What's the time? Oh look, it's no-one-has-been-arrested-o'clock again." The post appeared to question the lack of arrests following a recent Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI memo, which concluded that Epstein’s 2019 death was a suicide and that no "client list" for blackmail existed.

Musk’s post referenced a June 2025 claim—later deleted—where he alleged Trump’s name appears in the Epstein files, suggesting this as the reason for their delayed release. Musk admitted he "went too far" with the accusation, which lacked evidence, but his latest remarks continue to fuel public curiosity about Trump’s ties to Epstein. The two were known acquaintances in the 1990s, with Epstein once claiming in 2017 to be Trump’s "closest friend." Trump, however, distanced himself in 2019, stating he hadn’t spoken to Epstein in 15 years and had banned him from his golf resorts in the early 2000s.

The DOJ’s recent memo, reported by Axios, found no evidence of Epstein blackmailing prominent figures or maintaining a client list, disappointing those expecting new revelations. It also confirmed that no further charges will be filed in the case, despite Ghislaine Maxwell’s ongoing 20-year sentence for child sex trafficking. Musk questioned the memo’s findings, asking on X, "So ... umm ... then what is Ghislaine Maxwell in prison for?"

The Epstein files, comprising court documents and investigative records, have been partially released since January 2024, but many remain sealed, sparking conspiracy theories. While Trump’s name appears in flight logs from the 1990s, no evidence links him to Epstein’s crimes. Musk’s ongoing feud with Trump, intensified by disagreements over fiscal policy, continues to draw attention as calls for full transparency persist.
