Viral Post Exposes Bengaluru's Infrastructure Crisis Near Major Tech Parks
Bengaluru resident's viral post exposes dusty paths and open drains near tech parks.
A viral social media post by a Bengaluru resident has reignited concerns over the city’s infrastructure after the user highlighted a dusty, unpaved walking route near major technology parks in the Bellandur area. The post, which gained significant attention online, described poor road conditions, open drainage systems and unhygienic surroundings near Embassy TechVillage and RMZ Ecoworld, both of which house offices of several leading technology and corporate firms.
According to the resident, the daily commute through the Saul Kere lake area toward their workplace had become increasingly frustrating because of deteriorating civic conditions. In the post shared on Reddit, the user described the route as resembling a “literal dustbin” and complained about widespread dust, broken roads and foul-smelling open drains. The individual also claimed that the problems had persisted for a long period despite the area being one of Bengaluru’s most prominent commercial and IT hubs.
The resident further alleged that the condition was made worse by the presence of warehouses linked to major quick-commerce companies operating nearby. The post stated that a large open drainage channel running close to the warehouses remained exposed for nearly 50 metres, creating unhygienic conditions and an unpleasant environment for pedestrians and commuters. The user questioned why neither civic authorities nor private companies had taken adequate steps to improve the infrastructure in the locality.

The comments quickly gained traction online, with several social media users echoing similar concerns about Bengaluru’s urban infrastructure challenges. Many residents pointed to recurring issues such as damaged roads, flooding, traffic congestion and poor waste management in rapidly expanding areas of the city. Others criticised what they described as inadequate coordination between municipal authorities and private developers in maintaining civic amenities around high-value commercial zones.
Bellandur, which has witnessed rapid urban and commercial growth over the past decade, is home to some of Bengaluru’s largest technology parks and residential developments. However, the region has also repeatedly faced criticism over infrastructure gaps, especially during monsoon seasons when waterlogging and road damage become severe. Civic concerns around Bellandur Lake and nearby areas have frequently drawn public attention due to environmental and sanitation-related problems.
The viral post has once again intensified debate over whether Bengaluru’s infrastructure development has kept pace with its emergence as India’s technology capital. Residents and urban planners have often argued that the city’s rapid expansion has placed enormous pressure on roads, drainage systems and public services. While authorities have announced multiple infrastructure projects in recent years, many citizens continue to express frustration over delays in implementation and the poor condition of basic civic facilities in several key parts of the city.
