Drone strikes hit Baghdad security building; another drone crashes into private sports club, officials report.
An upscale residential area in Baghdad came under a drone attack on Saturday morning, targeting both an Iraqi security agency building and a private club, security sources told AFP. According to the official, one drone struck a communications building housing an Iraqi security service that collaborates with US advisors as part of the international anti-jihadist coalition. The building plays a key role in intelligence and coordination efforts against extremist groups in the country.
A second drone, reportedly being used to film the operation, crashed into a private members sports club frequented by Iraqi elites and foreign diplomats. No immediate reports of casualties or property damage have been released.

The attack highlights growing concerns over the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in urban areas of Baghdad, raising questions about security protocols for sensitive government facilities and locations frequented by civilians.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the origin of the drones and assess whether the incident was part of a coordinated operation or an isolated attack. Security forces in the area have increased patrols to prevent further incidents.
This incident adds to a series of recent security challenges in Baghdad, where drone and rocket attacks have increasingly targeted both government installations and private venues associated with international personnel.
