Driver Burnt Alive in Fiery Head-On Lorry Crash on Andhra Highway

Lorry driver burnt alive in head-on crash and fire on Andhra highway.

A tragic road accident claimed one life this morning on the Kolkata-Chennai Highway in Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh, when two lorries collided head-on near Ravikampadu junction. The collision involved a cargo lorry transporting waste cotton bundles from Kolkata and another lorry that reportedly took a sudden right turn without signaling.

The impact was so severe that both vehicles caught fire within minutes. Eyewitnesses described flames spreading rapidly, leaving little time for rescue efforts. Kamal Shaikh, the driver of the cargo lorry, was trapped inside the cabin and died after being engulfed by the blaze.

Firefighters and police personnel rushed to the scene and worked to extinguish the fire. The rapid response managed to control the flames, but the vehicles were completely destroyed, and the highway remained blocked for several hours.

Authorities had to clear the burnt wreckage and debris from the road, causing prolonged disruption to traffic along this major transport route. Emergency crews coordinated to ensure no further casualties occurred while handling the chaotic aftermath.

Police have registered a formal case and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. Initial reports suggest negligence on part of the second lorry driver for failing to observe traffic rules, but further inquiry is underway.

The incident has reignited calls for stricter enforcement of road safety norms, particularly for heavy vehicles carrying flammable materials, highlighting the dangers posed by careless driving on India’s national highways.
