Dombivli Residents Face 12-Hour Water Shutdown on December 30

Dombivli East and West to face 12-hour water cut on December 30 for tank inlet repairs.

Residents of Dombivli East and West are set to face a planned 12-hour water supply disruption on Tuesday, December 30, as the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) undertakes urgent repair work on a leaking inlet of a high-level water tank under the Amrut 2.0 scheme. The civic body has urged citizens to store sufficient water in advance and cooperate during the maintenance period.

The water supplied to Dombivli is sourced from the Ulhas river, lifted through the Marmohili Undunchan Centre, and treated at the 150 DLD Netivali Water Purification Centre. From there, it is distributed across Dombivli East and West. Officials reported that a leakage was detected at the inlet tapping point of the high-level tank at Khambalpada, causing water loss and posing a risk of structural damage if left unrepaired.

To fix the leakage, the existing patch clamp on the inlet will be removed, repaired, and reinstalled. KDMC confirmed that this work necessitates a complete shutdown of water supply from the Netivali purification centre for the entire duration of the repair window to ensure safety and effectiveness.

The shutdown will begin at 9:00 am and continue until 9:00 pm on December 30. The municipal corporation assured that normal water supply is expected to resume after the repair, subject to system stabilisation and operational checks, and that the disruption is limited to the essential maintenance period.

KDMC has appealed to residents, housing societies, and commercial establishments to store adequate water and remain patient during the temporary disruption. Officials emphasized that the repair is crucial for the long-term reliability of Dombivli’s water infrastructure and to prevent recurring losses in the distribution system.

Civic authorities also reassured citizens that efforts will be made to complete the work efficiently and restore water supply as quickly as possible, minimizing inconvenience to the public while safeguarding the city’s essential services.
