DMK To Hold District Secretaries Meeting On March 16 To Strengthen Election Preparations
DMK to review election strategy and grassroots readiness in district secretaries meeting ahead of TN polls.
The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has called a crucial meeting of its district secretaries on March 16 as political activity intensifies ahead of the anticipated announcement of the Tamil Nadu Assembly election schedule. The meeting comes at a time when party leaders are keen to ensure that the organisational machinery is fully prepared for the upcoming polls.
In a statement issued on Saturday, S. Duraimurugan, DMK general secretary, urged all district secretaries to attend the meeting without fail. Members of Parliament representing the party have also been asked to participate, reflecting the high importance the leadership has attached to the gathering. The meeting is expected to set the tone for the party’s electoral strategy across the state.
The timing of the meeting is significant, as the Election Commission of India is expected to announce the schedule for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on either March 15 or March 16. With the formal notification likely to follow soon after, DMK insiders said the leadership intends to review the prevailing political scenario and assess the readiness of its district units and grassroots cadres.

Party sources indicated that the meeting would provide district secretaries with an opportunity to update the leadership on organisational preparations and the political climate in their respective regions. Chief Minister and DMK president M. K. Stalin is expected to address the gathering, outlining the broad campaign strategy and offering guidance on strengthening voter outreach.
Observers note that the ruling party is likely to rely heavily on its alliance network to consolidate support across constituencies. The Chief Minister is expected to stress the importance of close coordination with the DMK’s allies to ensure a smooth campaign at the grassroots level, avoiding confusion among party cadres and voters.
The March 16 meeting is therefore seen as a pivotal step in shaping the DMK’s electoral preparations as the party positions itself for a crucial contest in Tamil Nadu. Party insiders said the session will be instrumental in finalising strategies, coordinating with allies, and energising the party machinery ahead of the polls.
