D.K. Shivakumar Sworn In as Karnataka’s 25th Chief Minister at Bengaluru Event

Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar was sworn in as the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday at a grand ceremony held at the Glass House within the Lok Bhavan premises in Bengaluru. The event marked a major political transition in the state, drawing senior leaders from across the country and large gatherings of party workers and supporters.

The ceremony began amid loud slogans from supporters as Shivakumar walked to the dais and paid floral tributes to the portrait of Sri Veera Gangadhara Swamiji, also known as Ajjayya or Nonavinakere Ajja. He then proceeded to take the oath of office and secrecy, holding a copy of the Constitution. During the oath-taking, he invoked the name of his spiritual guide, reflecting the ceremonial and personal significance of the occasion.

The proceedings commenced with the rendition of Vande Mataram, followed by the National Anthem performed by the Karnataka State Police Band. The state anthem was also played as part of the formal programme, adding to the ceremonial atmosphere. Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh welcomed dignitaries and formally opened the proceedings by seeking approval from Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to begin the swearing-in ceremony.

Before taking oath, Shivakumar also felicitated outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah by draping a shawl over his shoulders. The gesture was seen as a symbolic acknowledgment of leadership transition within the Karnataka Congress. The event was conducted in the presence of constitutional authorities and senior administrative officials.

A large number of prominent political leaders attended the ceremony, including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and Chief Ministers from Telangana and Himachal Pradesh. Senior Congress leaders such as K.C. Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala were also present, alongside representatives from Kerala and other states.

With the oath-taking completed, Shivakumar formally assumed office as the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka. The ceremony, marked by political symbolism and high-profile attendance, signaled the beginning of a new administrative chapter in the state under Congress leadership.
