Delhi Weather Highlights: Heavy Rain Causes Waterlogging And Traffic Disruptions
Heavy rain disrupts traffic and causes waterlogging across Delhi.
Delhi woke up to fresh showers on Tuesday morning, with several parts of the national capital reporting waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The rain added to the weather-related challenges faced by commuters after heavy showers the previous day affected movement across Delhi-NCR. Several areas witnessed slow traffic as accumulated water disrupted normal road conditions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate rainfall at many places across Delhi on Tuesday, with heavy to extremely heavy rain possible at isolated locations. The weather department has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over the national capital. Residents and commuters have been advised to remain alert as weather conditions could affect travel during the day.
At Safdarjung, Delhi's primary weather station, the temperature was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius at 5:30 am on Tuesday, while humidity stood at 100 per cent. The station recorded 3 mm of rainfall by 8:30 am, according to the IMD. The combination of persistent rain and high humidity has contributed to wet conditions across several parts of the city.

The latest spell of rain follows heavy showers across Delhi-NCR on Monday, when waterlogging and traffic disruptions were reported in multiple areas. The rainfall also affected flight operations, with several flights being diverted. The continuing weather activity has raised concerns over further disruption to road and air travel if heavy showers persist.
The IMD's forecast of intense rainfall at isolated locations means some areas could experience additional water accumulation and traffic problems during the day. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds could also create temporary difficulties for commuters and outdoor activities. Authorities and residents are therefore keeping a close watch on changing weather conditions across the national capital region.
With the monsoon remaining active over Delhi-NCR, further rain could provide relief from high temperatures but also create challenges for daily commuting. Waterlogging remains a key concern in low-lying and poorly drained areas, while heavy showers can slow traffic on major routes. The weather situation is expected to remain closely monitored as the IMD continues to update its forecasts.
