Delhi Police Hunt Godman Accused of Abusing Multiple Female Students

Self-styled guru accused of abusing students at management institute.

A self-styled godman, Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Parth Sarthy, is now a fugitive after Delhi Police booked him for sexually harassing multiple female students at Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management. The case, which has sent shockwaves through the academic community, was registered on August 4 at Vasant Kunj North Police Station following complaints from students enrolled in the institute’s Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program.

According to police sources, Saraswati, a member of the institute’s management committee, allegedly targeted students under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) scholarship. An investigation revealed disturbing details: 32 female students provided statements, with 17 accusing Saraswati of using abusive language, sending obscene messages, and making unwanted physical advances. Several victims also reported that certain faculty members and administrators pressured them to comply with the godman’s demands, creating an environment of fear and coercion.

A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and 16 of the victims have deposed before a magistrate, strengthening the legal proceedings. However, Saraswati has been evading arrest, prompting police to conduct raids and intensify surveillance across the city.

Further investigation uncovered additional wrongdoing. In the institute’s basement, police discovered a Volvo car bearing a forged diplomatic number plate—39 UN 1—allegedly used by Saraswati to project an image of authority. On August 25, a separate FIR was lodged, and the vehicle was seized. Authorities suspect the fake diplomatic plate was part of Saraswati’s efforts to intimidate students and evade scrutiny.

The scandal has raised serious questions about oversight at educational institutions and the exploitation of vulnerable students under the guise of spiritual or administrative authority. Parents and student organizations have demanded swift action, calling for stricter regulations to prevent such abuses of power.

Delhi Police are now working to track down Saraswati, who remains at large. “We are leaving no stone unturned to apprehend the accused,” a senior police official said, adding that the investigation is also exploring potential complicity among institute staff. The case has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for justice for the victims and accountability for those who enabled the alleged predator.
