Delhi Police Felicitates 16 Interns for Technology Solutions in Policing

The Delhi Police has honoured 16 student innovators for developing technology-based solutions to policing challenges under its Summer Internship Programme 2026. Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar presented certificates of appreciation and souvenirs to the students during a felicitation ceremony held at the Delhi Police Headquarters.

The internship was introduced to strengthen collaboration between the police force, students and academic institutions while encouraging young innovators to address practical law-enforcement challenges. The programme began on June 8 and attracted more than 400 applications from students enrolled at universities and technical institutions.

Following the selection process, 16 students were chosen from institutions including the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Delhi Technological University, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Jamia Hamdard and Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology. They participated in nearly two months of practical development work.

During the programme, the interns worked under the guidance of officers from the Delhi Police’s Tech and Project Implementation Division. This allowed them to understand problems encountered during day-to-day police operations and apply their technical knowledge in a practical setting with support from experienced officers.

The students developed four functional technology solutions focused on improving administrative work, streamlining internal processes and strengthening citizen services. According to the Delhi Police, the projects were also designed to support the force’s continuing digital transformation and explore how technology can improve the efficiency of modern policing.

At the ceremony, Kumar congratulated the students and praised their innovation, dedication and technical expertise. He also underlined the importance of cooperation between educational institutions and law-enforcement agencies. Officials said the initiative gave students exposure to real-world policing challenges while helping the force examine technology-based solutions for modernisation and improved public service delivery.
