Delhi-NCR May Receive Heavy Rain; Air Quality Remains In Very Poor Category
Heavy rain forecast as Delhi-NCR faces very poor air.
Delhi-NCR is likely to receive heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Monday, according to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The national capital is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius. Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are also likely in parts of Delhi as the weather system remains active over the region.
The IMD has issued alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across 19 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Wind speeds could reach 80-85 kmph in some areas, while isolated hailstorms have also been forecast in parts of the country.
Several parts of western India are expected to experience another spell of intense rainfall. An upper-air cyclonic circulation continues over southwestern Rajasthan and adjoining areas, while another circulation is present over the northwestern Bay of Bengal. These weather systems are influencing rainfall patterns across several regions and are contributing to the possibility of heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Winds in some parts of the state could reach 70-75 kmph. Lucknow is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the very poor category, with several monitoring stations reporting elevated pollution levels. Other stations, including Rohini, Mundka, IIT Delhi, Chandni Chowk, Dwarka Sector-8, Nehru Nagar, Sonia Vihar and CRRI Mathura Road, also reported elevated readings.
The combination of heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected to keep weather conditions unsettled across Delhi-NCR and several neighbouring regions. Residents are advised to monitor the latest weather alerts and local advisories as conditions can change during the day. The rainfall may also bring temporary changes in pollution levels, although air quality can vary significantly across different parts of the capital.
