Delhi-London Air India Flight Diverts Due To In-Flight Technical Problem
Air India A350 returns Delhi after mid-flight technical issue.
An Air India Airbus A350 aircraft en route from Delhi to London experienced a technical issue on Tuesday, forcing the flight to return to Delhi shortly after takeoff. Authorities confirmed that the safety of passengers and crew was the airline’s top priority, prompting the precautionary diversion.
The flight, carrying over 250 passengers, was airborne for approximately 45 minutes before the crew reported a technical anomaly. Following standard aviation protocols, the pilots decided to return to Indira Gandhi International Airport to ensure the situation was addressed safely. No injuries were reported, and all passengers remained calm during the diversion.
Airport officials said that ground crews were immediately mobilized to inspect the aircraft upon landing. Preliminary checks suggested a minor technical fault, though further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause. Air India has stated that it is fully cooperating with aviation safety authorities.

The airline is working to rebook affected passengers on subsequent flights to London. “Passenger safety is our foremost concern, and we are taking all necessary steps to minimize inconvenience,” an Air India spokesperson said. Travel arrangements, including accommodations and alternative flights, are being provided to those impacted by the disruption.
Technical issues on long-haul aircraft are relatively rare but are treated with utmost seriousness. Aviation experts note that prompt decisions by pilots and ground teams are critical in ensuring passenger safety, as demonstrated in this incident.
Passengers have been advised to stay updated through official airline communications regarding revised flight schedules. Air India has assured travelers that the aircraft will undergo thorough maintenance before being cleared for its next operation.
