Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday extended warm greetings to women across India on the occasion of International Women’s Day, saying the day inspires women to move forward with dignity, self-respect, and confidence. She highlighted the importance of recognising women’s strength, achievements, and contributions to society.

This day fills us with new energy to move forward with dignity and self-respect.” She reaffirmed the Delhi government’s commitment to supporting women’s growth and success in every field, ensuring they have access to opportunities and encouragement to achieve their goals.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to create better prospects for the next generation of girls, noting that future daughters should be given every chance to fulfil their potential. “As the nation continues to progress, we must ensure that the opportunities we may have missed in the past are made available to our daughters. International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, celebrates women’s social, economic, cultural, and political contributions while highlighting the ongoing fight for gender equality. The theme for 2026, ‘Give to Gain,’ underscores the power of collective support, encouraging communities and individuals to uplift women by sharing opportunities and resources.

CM Gupta’s remarks come amid growing recognition of women leaders across activism, politics, arts, sports, and entrepreneurship, who continue to break barriers and set new benchmarks for equality and progress. Advocates stress that women’s empowerment is not only a women’s issue but a societal responsibility that drives growth, innovation, and positive change.

Despite notable achievements, challenges remain. The Chief Minister’s message and the day’s observances reinforce the importance of ensuring equal participation of women in decision-making spaces, highlighting their immense potential to contribute to a more equitable and prosperous society.
