Delhi Court Summons Police in Turkman Gate Mosque Stone-Pelting Case

Delhi court issues notice to police in Turkman Gate mosque stone-pelting case.

The Tis Hazari Court on Friday issued a notice to the Delhi Police in connection with bail applications filed by five accused in the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque stone-pelting case. The court scheduled the next hearing for January 13 and also directed the jail superintendent to submit medical records and CCTV footage of the accused.

The five petitioners—Mohammad Arib, Kaif, Kashif, Adnan, and Sameer—claimed they were allegedly assaulted while in jail. Advocate Atul Srivastava has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) representing the Delhi Police in the matter, ensuring the police side is formally presented before the court.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police arrested another accused, Mohammad Imran, also known as Raju, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 12. Earlier investigations identified nearly 30 individuals allegedly involved in the violence using CCTV footage, body-worn camera recordings, and viral social media videos.

Authorities have also indicated that Samajwadi Party MP Mohibbullah Nadvi may be summoned to join the investigation. Police allege the MP was present near the demolition site shortly before violence erupted and failed to maintain distance despite prior instructions.

The probe has revealed that social media, including WhatsApp groups and YouTube, was reportedly used to mobilize residents and incite unrest during the demolition drive. Delhi Police are preparing notices for individuals, including YouTuber Salman, accused of promoting public disorder online.

The FIR states that the unrest began around 12:40 a.m. when police started barricading encroached government land. A group of 30–35 people allegedly gathered, raised provocative slogans, and tried to obstruct police operations, escalating the situation into stone-pelting and violent clashes.
