Delhi CNG Cylinder Blast: One Killed, Six Injured, Probe Underway

CNG cylinder explosion at Delhi fuel pump kills one, injures six.

One person was killed and six others were seriously injured after a CNG cylinder fitted in a truck exploded at a fuel station in Delhi on Wednesday. The blast occurred while the truck was being refuelled with compressed natural gas. The incident took place near Tikri Kalan Metro Station, triggering an emergency response from police and fire department personnel in the area.

The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Manish, a resident of Baba Haridas Colony in West Delhi. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer Delhi, Manish was the person who was filling CNG into the truck’s cylinder when the explosion occurred. He died at the spot following the blast, while six other people who were nearby sustained injuries in the incident.

Police and fire personnel were deployed at the fuel station following the explosion, with large teams seen responding to the emergency. The injured were taken for medical treatment, and authorities said their condition was serious. The sudden blast at the CNG station also prompted a security response in the surrounding area as emergency personnel worked to assess the situation and ensure that the site was safe.

According to the DCP, the explosion took place during the process of filling gas into the truck’s CNG cylinder. The circumstances that led to the cylinder exploding have not yet been established. Authorities are expected to examine the vehicle, the CNG equipment and the refuelling process as part of the investigation into the incident.

A fire service officer said six people standing near the truck were injured in the explosion. The blast occurred at the fuel station while the vehicle was being refuelled, placing people in the immediate vicinity at risk. Fire and police teams reached the location after the incident, while the injured were moved for treatment.

The incident has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the CNG cylinder failure at the fuel station. Police and other authorities are continuing to assess the scene and gather information about what happened before the explosion. With one person dead and six others seriously injured, further details are expected as officials investigate the cause of the blast and review the safety conditions at the site.
