Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Says LPG Supply Stable, Distribution System Functioning Smoothly

Rekha Gupta says LPG supply in Delhi is stable, urges people to avoid panic.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday assured residents that the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the national capital remains stable and sufficient, urging people not to panic or be influenced by rumours of shortages.

Addressing concerns, the Chief Minister said both domestic and commercial LPG supplies are under control, with no disruption reported across the city. She emphasised that the government is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that the distribution system continues to function smoothly.

Providing details on domestic LPG availability, Gupta said that 1,11,766 bookings were recorded on Sunday, while oil marketing companies delivered 1,30,094 cylinders—exceeding demand and helping clear pending backlogs. She added that the average delivery time has improved from 4.24 days to 3.87 days, ensuring faster doorstep service for consumers.

On the commercial front, the Chief Minister noted that Delhi has a daily quota of 6,480 LPG cylinders (19 kg equivalent), while the average daily consumption over the past week stood at 4,268 cylinders. This, she said, clearly indicates that supply is currently outpacing demand. She also appealed to commercial users, particularly those using smaller cylinders, to avoid unnecessary stockpiling.

To support consumers, the government has set up a dedicated control room under the Food and Civil Supplies Department to address any issues related to LPG availability. Gupta said consumers facing difficulties can reach out through helpline numbers provided by the department during working hours.

The Chief Minister also encouraged households and institutions to consider alternatives such as Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and electric cooking options for long-term energy security. She reiterated that the government remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply and will continue to review the situation on a daily basis.
