Delhi CM Calls on Women to Lead Vedanta Marathon

In a vibrant push for fitness and inclusivity, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled the finisher’s medal for the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, set for October 12, 2025, during a ceremony at the Delhi Secretariat on August 29. Presented with her registration number by the event organizers, Gupta emphasized the marathon’s role in promoting a healthier, fitter Delhi while passionately advocating for greater women’s participation in the iconic race.
“This marathon is a step toward a Viksit Delhi, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of fitness through healthy eating and regular exercise,” Gupta declared. She not only committed to running in the event herself but also set an ambitious goal: to see more women than men crossing the finish line. “I want women to lead this charge, showcasing their strength and determination,” she added, highlighting the event’s potential to empower and inspire.
The Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, marking its 20th anniversary this year, has already attracted 23,000 registrations, with organizers aiming for over 40,000 participants. Runners from 13 countries will join the race, making it a global celebration of fitness and community spirit. The event, supported by the Delhi government, aims to enhance the city’s quality of life by encouraging residents to embrace active lifestyles.
