Delhi CM Attack: Planned by Professional Criminals says Mishra

Rekha Gupta injured in targeted conspiracy, Mishra claims.

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra has alleged that the brutal attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was a meticulously orchestrated conspiracy, carried out by a “professional criminal” with a history of serious offenses. The assault occurred on Wednesday during a Jan Sunwai public grievance program at Gupta’s residence in north Delhi’s Civil Lines, leaving her with severe injuries and in a state of shock.

Mishra, who visited Gupta at her home Wednesday morning, told reporters that despite her condition, the Chief Minister has continued reviewing official files from her residence. “Her physical injuries are serious, and she needs rest, but she remains committed to her duties,” he said. Gupta, Delhi’s first female Chief Minister, was reportedly targeted during the public interaction session, a routine event to address citizens’ concerns.

The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed, faces nine criminal cases, including attempt to murder and smuggling, according to Mishra. “This was no random act. The attacker conducted reconnaissance of her residence, and two videos recovered from his phone confirm it,” he revealed, labeling the incident a “well-planned conspiracy.” Police have detained the suspect, and investigations are underway to uncover the motive and potential accomplices.
