Delhi Braces for Rain, Thunderstorms Today
Delhi’s Skies Set to Pour
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms across Delhi on Tuesday, bringing relief from the humid conditions gripping the capital. The minimum temperature recorded at 8:30 AM was 26.7°C, slightly below the seasonal average by 0.2°C, with humidity levels reaching a stifling 97%. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35°C, typical for mid-August.
Recent posts on X indicate that light rain has already begun in parts of Delhi, with expectations of moderate showers and gusty winds by evening, potentially easing the muggy weather. The IMD’s regional weather center predicts cloudy skies throughout the day, with isolated thunderstorms likely in areas like Rohini, Dwarka, and South Delhi.
Delhi’s air quality remains in the “satisfactory” category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 90 at 9:00 AM, as reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). This places air quality well within safe limits, where 0–50 is “good,” 51–100 “satisfactory,” and higher ranges indicate worsening pollution levels. The rainfall may further improve air quality by settling dust and pollutants.

Residents are advised to carry umbrellas and prepare for possible traffic disruptions due to waterlogging in low-lying areas. The IMD will provide further updates if the weather intensifies.
