Delhi Audi Crash Involving Three Vehicles Leaves One Man Dead
Audi rental linked to fatal three-vehicle crash in Delhi.
A 17-year-old boy allegedly crashed a rented Audi into three vehicles in southwest Delhi's Kishangarh area, resulting in the death of a pedestrian, police said on Thursday. The accident occurred around 2.30 am on October 4 near a CNG pump at the Kishangarh red light. The teenager had reportedly rented the luxury car through an online app for Rs 16,000 for one night to attend a friend's birthday celebration.
According to police, the Audi was being driven recklessly when it collided with three vehicles. A 45-year-old pedestrian identified as Umashankar, a resident of Kishangarh, suffered serious injuries in the incident. He was taken to the JPN Apex Trauma Centre, where doctors declared him dead. The drivers of the other vehicles involved in the collision were not reported to have sustained injuries.
Police subsequently apprehended the juvenile driver and produced him before the Juvenile Justice Board through video conferencing. The Audi and the other vehicles involved in the accident have been seized as part of the investigation. An FIR has been registered at Kishangarh Police Station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to rash driving and causing death by negligence, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The investigation has also turned towards the circumstances under which the minor obtained the Audi. Police are examining the rental company's records, including the booking details, age verification process, driving licence information and other documents submitted when the vehicle was rented. Officials said the company could face action if any violation or lapse is established during the investigation.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the accident site and nearby roads to reconstruct the sequence of events. Police are also checking whether other people were travelling in the Audi at the time of the crash and are seeking details about the vehicle's movements during the rental period. The probe is expected to establish who booked and collected the car and whether the teenager was driving it throughout the relevant period.
The incident has brought renewed attention to the risks associated with underage driving and the need for proper verification when vehicles are rented. While the investigation is continuing, police are examining both the conduct of the juvenile driver and the procedures followed by the rental service before the Audi was handed over. Any further action will depend on the findings of the investigation and the applicable legal process.
