Delhi 10/11 Blast Update: ATS Detains MBBS Student Linked to Jaish Network Behind Red Fort Explosion

Medical network linked to deadly Red Fort terror attack.

A white Hyundai i20 detonated at 6:52 pm on Monday near Delhi’s Red Fort, killing 13 individuals and injuring more than a dozen in an explosion that severely damaged surrounding vehicles and infrastructure. Closed-circuit television footage shows the primary suspect, Dr Umar Mohammad—alias Dr Umar Un Nabi—entering Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque near Turkman Gate in Old Delhi shortly before proceeding to the blast site in the explosives-laden vehicle.

Dr Umar, previously employed at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, was in communication with a Turkiye-based operative identified by the codename 'Ukasa', according to investigative sources. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), now in the third day of its operation, is conducting forensic analysis of blast materials, examining digital communications, and reconstructing the suspect’s movements leading to the suicide bombing.

Three doctors affiliated with Al-Falah University have been detained for questioning, while authorities have requisitioned comprehensive institutional records, including land documents, no-objection certificates, building plans, National Medical Commission approvals, and University Grants Commission correspondence, to determine any operational or administrative lapses that may have enabled terrorist activities. Parallel efforts are focused on tracing the vehicle’s procurement history and modifications.

In Kanpur, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad detained Mohammad Arif, a cardiology student, from his residence in Ashok Nagar due to alleged connections with Dr Shaheen Saeed, a Lucknow-based physician arrested for establishing the women’s wing of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in India. A significant explosives recovery in Faridabad has intensified scrutiny of the emerging terror module.

Red Fort metro station remains closed indefinitely for security reasons, with enhanced surveillance across religious sites, educational institutions, and medical facilities. The investigation continues to target cross-border coordination and recruitment networks within professional sectors.
