Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Says Country Has No Fuel Or Gas Shortage

Rajnath Singh assures India has enough fuel, gas.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday reassured citizens that there is no shortage of fuel or gas in the country, amid recent concerns over supply disruptions and rising energy costs. Speaking at a press briefing, he emphasized that the government has taken all necessary measures to ensure continuous availability of petroleum products and cooking fuel.

Singh highlighted that domestic production and strategic reserves are sufficient to meet current demand. He also noted that import channels remain operational, preventing any risk of significant shortages. “The people of India can rest assured that their access to essential fuels is secure,” he said.

The Defence Minister’s comments come amid heightened attention on energy security, driven by global price fluctuations and geopolitical tensions affecting crude oil supply. Officials have maintained that contingency plans, including stockpiling and alternate sourcing, are in place to mitigate potential disruptions.

Industry analysts said that while temporary regional shortages can occur due to logistical challenges, there is no systemic fuel deficit in the country. They pointed out that government monitoring of distribution networks and pipeline infrastructure helps maintain steady supply across urban and rural areas.

Singh also stressed the role of renewable energy and domestic production in reducing long-term dependency on imports. He underlined ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing energy self-reliance and strengthening strategic reserves to cushion against future global market shocks.

With reassurances from the Defence Ministry and continuous monitoring of supply chains, experts believe that India is well-positioned to manage fuel and gas demands effectively, ensuring stability for households, industries, and critical services nationwide.
