Cultural Renaissance Gains Ground, Shekhawat Announces 'Gyan Bharatam Mission'
Gyan Bharatam Mission unveils manuscript preservation and digitisation drive.
Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat declared on Thursday that India is experiencing an "era of cultural renaissance," emphasizing efforts to safeguard the nation's rich manuscript heritage through the Gyan Bharatam Mission. Speaking at an international conference in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, he highlighted the mission's goal of preserving traditional knowledge for future generations, urging citizens to take pride in their cultural roots.
Under the Gyan Bharatam Mission, the government plans to establish 25 clusters, 20 regional centers, and 10 centers of excellence in a "hub-and-spoke model" across the country. This initiative aims to systematically conserve and digitize ancient manuscripts, ensuring their accessibility. Shekhawat stressed the role of technology in disseminating this heritage, suggesting that manuscripts be translated into AI-readable formats for wider reach and preservation.
The three-day conference, organized by the Ministry of Culture, brings together scholars, experts, researchers, and eminent speakers to discuss key aspects such as conservation, preservation, and digitization of manuscripts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a session on the second day, underscoring the government's commitment to cultural revival.
