CRPF Reaffirms Support to Pulwama Martyrs’ Families on 7th Anniversary

CRPF pledges ongoing welfare support for families of the 40 Pulwama martyrs on the attack's 7th anniversary.

Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), G.P. Singh, paid tribute to the 40 personnel who lost their lives in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, emphasizing the force’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of their families. The attack, carried out by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway, had claimed 40 lives and left the nation in mourning.

Singh highlighted that several welfare measures have been implemented, including housing, land allotments, financial assistance, and compassionate appointments for the children of martyrs. Nineteen families have already received houses, while others have been allotted land through support from local administrations. These measures aim to provide stability and security to those affected.

To further strengthen support, the CRPF launched the Brave Family App, which allows martyrs’ families to directly connect with the force’s welfare directorate. Singh noted that the CRPF remains committed not only to Pulwama families but also to the families of personnel lost in subsequent operations, ensuring timely assistance for their needs.

The DG described the Pulwama attack as a deeply tragic event, underscoring the bravery and sacrifice of the personnel. He reiterated that the welfare of martyrs’ families remains a priority for the CRPF, reflecting the force’s values and dedication to its personnel even after their ultimate sacrifice.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to the heroes, saying their courage, devotion, and service to the nation “remain forever etched in our collective consciousness.” The attack, claimed by Pakistan-based JeM, significantly impacted India-Pakistan relations and led to the 2019 military standoff.

Investigations into the attack identified 19 accused, with the main perpetrators neutralized by August 2021, while seven others were arrested. The CRPF continues to honor the memory of the fallen personnel while providing comprehensive support to their families, ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten.
