CPC Delegation Visits BJP Headquarters in New Delhi for Inter-Party Talks
Chinese Communist delegation engages in high-level talks at BJP office in Delhi.
A delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC), led by Vice Minister Sun Haiyan of the International Department, conducted a formal visit to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting represents a notable instance of direct inter-party engagement between the ruling political organizations of the world's two most populous nations. The Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, accompanied the CPC delegation during the discussions.
The BJP side was represented by a delegation headed by party general secretary Arun Singh. According to Vijay Chauthaiwale, in-charge of the BJP's foreign affairs department, the discussions centered on mechanisms to strengthen and advance inter-party communications between the BJP and the CPC. The talks were described as extensive, focusing on potential avenues for sustained dialogue and exchange.
Chauthaiwale confirmed the visit through a post on X, stating that the CPC delegation, under Sun Haiyan's leadership, arrived at the BJP head office for the scheduled interaction. The presence of the Chinese Ambassador underscored the diplomatic significance attached to the engagement by Beijing. Such visits highlight efforts to maintain channels of communication at the party level amid complex bilateral relations.

The interaction occurs against the backdrop of ongoing strategic and territorial tensions between India and China, particularly along their shared border. Despite these challenges, both sides have periodically emphasized the importance of dialogue and people-to-people exchanges. Inter-party meetings of this nature serve as supplementary platforms to official state-level diplomacy.
This development signals continued interest from both the BJP and the CPC in fostering structured exchanges, even as geopolitical dynamics remain intricate. The emphasis on advancing inter-party communications suggests an intent to build longer-term institutional linkages beyond government-to-government interactions. Details regarding specific outcomes or follow-up measures from the meeting have not been publicly disclosed.
