Congress Urges PM to Chair Parliament Agenda Meet

PM is back, must address key issues

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi back from his five-nation tour, the Congress on Thursday pressed him to chair an all-party meeting to set the agenda for the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament, starting July 21. The opposition also took a dig at Modi’s frequent travels, urging him to tackle pressing domestic issues.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh welcomed the “Super Premium Frequent Flier PM” back after his visits to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit, and Namibia. Ramesh called on Modi to visit Manipur, where residents have awaited his attention for over two years, and address the delayed justice for Pahalgam terrorists. He also urged reflection on infrastructure failures in Gujarat, Modi’s home state, and aid for flood-hit Himachal Pradesh.

Ramesh emphasized reforming GST to boost mass consumption and encouraging private investment beyond favored business groups. “For a change, he could chair an all-party meeting to finalize the Parliament session agenda,” he added, highlighting the need for inclusive discussions.
