Congress to Hold December 14 Mega Rally Solo Against Alleged EC Vote Manipulation

Congress has confirmed that its December 14 mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan against alleged “vote theft” by the Election Commission will be a strictly solo affair, with no participation from INDIA bloc allies. Senior leaders told reporters that the decision to exclude coalition partners was finalized at last week’s AICC review meeting chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
The party described the protest as “purely a Congress initiative” built on months of nationwide campaigning that has already collected five crore signatures against voter list manipulation. State units have been directed to mobilize thousands of workers, especially from constituencies where the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls has triggered allegations of mass deletions targeting opposition voters.
Sources revealed that the AICC meeting, attended by Rahul Gandhi, general secretaries, state chiefs, and legislature party leaders from 12 states and Union Territories currently undergoing the revision exercise, unanimously backed the standalone strategy. The states include Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.

Congress accuses the Election Commission of functioning as a “blatantly partisan player” that is systematically destroying a level playing field ahead of crucial assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and West Bengal in 2026. The party claims the ongoing Phase 2 of the Special Intensive Revision, running until December 4, is being used to arbitrarily remove legitimate voters under pressure from the ruling BJP.
Rahul Gandhi intensified the attack on Sunday, directly linking the deaths of 16 Booth Level Officers to the “rushed and paperwork-heavy” revision process, calling it a deliberate ploy to harass citizens and enable electoral fraud. With INDIA bloc partners opting to stay away, the Congress rally now stands as the party’s biggest standalone show of strength against the Election Commission since the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
