Commercial Complex Fire Near Udupi Bus Stand Destroys Multiple Shops
Fire at commercial complex near Udupi bus stand gutted multiple shops, including mobile and hardware stores.
A fire broke out and engulfed a commercial complex near the Udupi City Bus Stand on Sunday evening, causing extensive damage to multiple shops in the area. The incident triggered panic among shop owners and nearby residents as flames spread rapidly through the building. Fire and emergency services were immediately alerted following the first signs of smoke and blaze.
According to initial reports, the fire was first noticed in a mobile phone sales and service shop located inside the complex. Within a short span of time, it also spread to an adjacent hardware shop. Due to the close proximity of establishments within the complex, the flames quickly intensified, making containment difficult in the early stages of the incident.
As the fire grew stronger, it began affecting several other shops situated in the commercial building. Shop owners reportedly rushed to salvage whatever goods they could before the flames spread further. However, the rapid escalation of the fire led to significant losses, with multiple units being gutted before firefighters could bring the situation under control.

Firefighters from the local station rushed to the spot and launched an operation to douse the flames. Multiple fire tenders were deployed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings in the busy bus stand area. Authorities worked for several hours to control the blaze and ensure that it did not reignite or spread further.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be officially confirmed, preliminary observations suggest that it may have originated from an electrical fault in one of the shops. Officials are expected to carry out a detailed inspection to determine the source of ignition and assess the total extent of property damage caused by the incident.
