CM Yogi Adityanath urges UP universities to build sports culture to help India win big medals at 2036 Olympics.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday called upon universities and schools in the state to foster a strong sports culture, aiming to prepare young athletes to win a substantial number of medals at the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympics. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the East Zone Inter-University Women’s Basketball Championship at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University.

Highlighting the state government’s support for sportspersons, CM Yogi said over 500 medal winners have been offered government jobs, and more than 96,000 sports kits have been distributed at the district level to encourage youth participation in athletics. He emphasized that nurturing talent at a young age is key to achieving global success in sports.

The Chief Minister detailed financial incentives for athletes, stating that UP provides Rs 10 lakh to each youth representing India at the Olympics.
