CM Yogi Launches “YAKSH” App with AI Features for Offender Database and Suspect Identification

UP launches AI-driven “YAKSH” app to improve policing efficiency, crime monitoring, and preventive law enforcement.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a two-day senior police officers' conference titled "Police Manthan" in Lucknow on December 27, 2025, and launched the AI-based mobile application "YAKSH" to enhance preventive policing and operational efficiency across the state. The event, attended by top police officials including Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna, replaced the traditional annual Police Week with a more focused, outcome-oriented brainstorming format. Over the two days, officers are participating in 11 thematic sessions to shape strategic priorities for tackling contemporary challenges such as cybercrime, human trafficking, social media misuse, and organized crime.

The "YAKSH" app, described as a digital evolution of the traditional beat book, leverages artificial intelligence and big data analytics to maintain comprehensive records on crimes, criminals, sensitive locations, and history-sheeters. Key features include station-wise offender databases, beat-level verification of individuals, AI-powered suspect identification, voice search functionality, gang-link analysis, and real-time movement alerts for high-risk individuals. Officials emphasized that the app will significantly simplify daily tasks for beat personnel and station house officers, enabling faster response times, better preventive measures, and improved law enforcement outcomes in a state known for its large population and diverse security challenges.

The conference also featured detailed presentations on various initiatives aimed at strengthening people-centric policing. Discussions covered critical areas, including women and child safety, with Additional Director General of Police Padmaja Chauhan highlighting progress under Mission Shakti centers, awareness campaigns, family dispute resolution clinics, and handling of rape cases. Other sessions addressed beat policing reforms, technology integration, police station management upgrades, and the "Smart SHO Dashboard," a new tool that allows Station House Officers to monitor complaints, crime trends, staff performance, and traffic management on a unified platform. These advancements are intended to reduce grievance pendency, enhance accountability, and make policing more transparent and responsive.

Chief Minister Adityanath remained present throughout the first day and is scheduled to attend sessions on the concluding day, December 28. The Uttar Pradesh Police highlighted that the "Police Manthan" initiative reflects the state government's commitment to building a technology-driven, modern policing system that prioritizes swift action against criminals while fostering public trust. With the launch of "YAKSH" and ongoing deliberations on emerging threats, the conference underscores Uttar Pradesh's push toward AI-enabled, data-driven law enforcement to maintain law and order more effectively in one of India's most populous states.
