CM Yogi Announces 1 Lakh New Recruitments In Uttar Pradesh Police This Year
CM Yogi announces 1 lakh UP Police recruitments, aiming to modernise force and boost employment.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced a major expansion plan for the state police force, declaring that one lakh new recruitments will be carried out this year. The announcement was made during a function at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow, where appointment letters were distributed to selected candidates in the Uttar Pradesh Police Telecommunication Department.
The Chief Minister said the recruitment drive is part of a broader effort to modernise and strengthen the state’s law enforcement system. According to officials, the initiative is aimed at filling existing vacancies across various wings of the police department while also enhancing operational capacity. However, authorities have noted that the large-scale recruitment plan is still in its early stage and no formal notification has been issued yet.
At the event, Yogi Adityanath also highlighted ongoing recruitment efforts in the state, mentioning recent examinations conducted for around 41,000 Home Guard positions. He stated that recruitment processes for Civil Police and other departments are also progressing rapidly. The Chief Minister added that over the past nine years, more than 2.20 lakh personnel have been inducted into the Uttar Pradesh Police, calling it one of the largest recruitment drives in the country’s policing history.

He further emphasized that the recruitment process under the current administration is being conducted in a transparent and merit-based manner. Referring to past practices, he claimed that earlier recruitment systems were affected by irregularities, but said that the present process ensures fairness, with selections based strictly on capability, reservation rules, and merit without external influence.
During his address, the Chief Minister also referred to recent developments in the force, including the passing-out of 60,000 newly inducted constables. He congratulated the recruits and encouraged them to serve with honesty and dedication. He also highlighted that Uttar Pradesh has become the first state to induct over 500 skilled athletes into the police force, contributing to the state’s strong performance in sports competitions at national and international levels.
Concluding his address, Yogi Adityanath urged the newly selected candidates to maintain physical fitness, stating that it directly supports mental strength and effective public service. He said the strengthened recruitment pipeline would play a key role in improving law and order and supporting the state’s development goals in the coming years.
