Red Fort Blast Update: CM Yogi Adityanath Orders Full Security Lockdown in UP

Uttar Pradesh on maximum alert after Delhi Red Fort car blast kills 13; CM Yogi orders statewide security lockdown.

Uttar Pradesh has been placed on high alert following the deadly explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi that claimed thirteen lives and left several injured. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed police across the state to adopt extreme vigilance, increase patrols, and tighten security in all high-density zones. According to an official statement, the Chief Minister reviewed the situation with Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna and sought a detailed security assessment of sensitive regions across the state.

DGP Krishna held an emergency meeting with top police officers and issued instructions to district police chiefs to remain on the ground and personally supervise operations. Quick Response Teams, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) units, bomb disposal squads, and dog squads have been placed on standby. Officers have been instructed to conduct intensified foot patrols and vehicle checks at railway stations, bus stands, temples, malls, and cinemas while ensuring public convenience is maintained.

Police have also been directed to strengthen real-time surveillance, with orders for continuous monitoring of CCTV footage and closer coordination between intelligence and local police networks. Officials said special teams have been deployed to ensure immediate response to any suspicious movements or objects. The DGP emphasized that all sensitive installations, including airports, ordnance factories, and defense establishments, are under constant watch.

Across major cities, the stepped-up security was clearly visible. In Ayodhya, Inspector General Praveen Kumar was seen on the ground personally checking vehicles and patrolling high-footfall areas. In Varanasi, teams monitored prominent religious and public spots, including the Kashi Vishwanath temple and Sankat Mochan temple, while in Lucknow, senior officers were deployed across railway stations and bus terminals. Ghaziabad Police increased searches around industrial zones like Bharat Electronics Limited, Hindan airport, and the Muradnagar ordnance factory.

The orders come amid growing concerns that the Delhi Red Fort blast may have wider security implications across northern India. Investigators are still determining the cause of the explosion, which destroyed multiple vehicles near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. As the probe continues, Uttar Pradesh remains in a state of heightened alert, with police instructed to operate in maximum preparedness mode to ensure public safety.
