CM Shivakumar Calls For Clean Conduct Among Police Officers In Karnataka

Shivakumar stresses integrity and accountability among police officers.

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday warned police personnel against involvement in illegal activities, saying strict action would be taken against officers found engaging in criminal dealings. He issued the warning while inaugurating 32 advanced mobile forensic vans and 75 Bolero patrol vehicles for district police units at Vidhana Soudha.

Addressing police officials, Shivakumar said members of the force must maintain integrity and public trust while carrying out their duties. He stated that police officers should not become part of any illegal agreements or criminal activities and described his message as both an appeal and a directive. He assured that the government would take immediate action against those violating the law.

The Chief Minister praised Karnataka Police for their recent action against narcotics networks and announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for the team that successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking operation. He said the newly launched vehicles would improve policing capabilities and help officers respond more effectively to crimes and emergencies across districts.

Highlighting the state’s anti-drug efforts, Shivakumar said Karnataka Police had seized narcotics worth around Rs 375 crore over the past year and arrested nearly 1,500 drug peddlers. He said the crackdown had gained national attention and encouraged officers to continue working in a manner that strengthens public confidence in the police force.

Shivakumar also said Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala had recently sought Karnataka’s cooperation in preventing the movement of narcotics across the state border. He assured that necessary measures would be taken to stop illegal drug networks from using Karnataka as a route for supplying narcotics to neighbouring regions.

The Chief Minister said technology and artificial intelligence were making policing more effective in crime detection and prevention. He added that dedicated teams would be created at police stations to tackle organised crime and rowdy activities. Referring to a recent theft at the Ram Mandir, Shivakumar also announced plans for stronger security measures for temple hundi collections in Karnataka.
