Maharashtra pushes AI adoption across governance and youth initiatives.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the state is positioning itself as India’s leading hub for artificial intelligence innovation, stressing that AI will play a central role in transforming governance and strengthening administrative efficiency across departments. Speaking at the announcement of Mumbai Tech Week (MTW) 2026, Fadnavis said artificial intelligence is the most powerful tool for future transformation and urged its widespread adoption across all sectors of life. He added that initiatives such as Mumbai Tech Week are designed to ensure that opportunities in AI reach young people and help build a future-ready workforce in the state.
The Chief Minister said the Maharashtra government is already actively deploying AI tools across multiple departments to make administration more capable, efficient, and responsive. He described the government as the “biggest stakeholder” in this technological transformation and emphasized the importance of showcasing real-world applications of AI-driven governance during public technology events.
Fadnavis also highlighted advancements in the state’s criminal justice system, stating that AI and digital technologies are being used to improve accuracy and speed in law enforcement processes.
