CM Dhami Meets CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi to Promote Film and Culture in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand CM Dhami meets CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi, discusses cinema, culture and film production in the state.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami received Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Chairman and renowned lyricist Prasoon Joshi at his official residence in Dehradun on Monday. The meeting focused on promoting cinema, literature, and cultural initiatives in the state.

During the courtesy visit, Dhami praised Joshi for his outstanding contributions to Indian literature and cinema. The two leaders held wide-ranging discussions on art, culture, folk music, literature, and the potential for expanding film production in Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister highlighted the state government’s efforts to position Uttarakhand as a shooting-friendly destination. He assured policy support and infrastructure facilities for filmmakers, aiming to boost regional cinema and attract national and international projects.

Dhami also commended Joshi’s leadership as CBFC chairman and expressed hope for future collaboration to promote cultural events, literary festivals, and cinematic ventures in the state. Both leaders emphasized leveraging Uttarakhand’s rich heritage and natural landscapes for artistic projects.

Separately, Dhami chaired a review meeting at the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Auditorium to assess preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar. He instructed officials to complete all construction and arrangements by October, with a focus on quality, cleanliness, security, and crowd management.

The Chief Minister also directed detailed planning for toilets, drinking water, parking, and law enforcement, including deployment of drones, CCTV cameras, and water police. Dhami stressed accountability at every stage to ensure a grand and smoothly organised Kumbh Mela, underscoring the state government’s commitment to safety and convenience for pilgrims.
