CM Chandrababu Naidu Calls For Work From Home Culture In Andhra Pradesh Government

Naidu backs work from home in government.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that the “work from home” culture is becoming a permanent feature of modern administration and indicated that his government is considering implementing remote working practices within the public sector as part of broader governance reforms.

The Chief Minister made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bollineni Institute of Skill, Education, and Research (BISER) in Nidamarru. During the event, he also underlined the importance of fiscal discipline and endorsed austerity measures suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid ongoing global tensions, calling for responsible governance and citizen participation in reducing economic strain.

Naidu said that work-from-home systems are no longer temporary arrangements but part of a structural shift in how institutions can function efficiently. He noted that governments, like private organisations, must adapt to digital systems and remote operations wherever feasible to improve productivity and reduce costs.

He also referred to the Prime Minister’s eight-point advisory, urging citizens to reduce fuel consumption, avoid wasteful expenditure, limit unnecessary foreign travel, and reconsider non-essential luxury purchases such as gold. He said such measures would help conserve foreign exchange reserves and strengthen the national economy during periods of global uncertainty.

Highlighting administrative discipline, the Chief Minister called for reducing oversized official convoys and ensuring that security arrangements remain practical and necessary. He stressed that public representatives should lead by example in adopting simplicity and responsible spending, especially during challenging economic conditions.

Turning to development initiatives, Naidu described the BISER project as a major step in advancing skill development and healthcare education in the proposed capital region. He said the institution, spread across 23 acres, along with a Skill University on adjacent land, aims to train large numbers of youth and contribute to employment generation. He also outlined broader plans for Amaravati’s development as a futuristic capital, alongside efforts to promote Visakhapatnam as a global city and transform the Rayalaseema region into a hub for technology, horticulture, and aerospace-related industries.
