Class 10 Boy Ends Life After PUBG Addiction Battle in Telangana
Teen gamer’s obsession with PUBG turns deadly
In a tragic incident from Telangana’s Nirmal district, a Class 10 student, identified as Beti Rishendra, died by suicide after his parents confiscated his mobile phone to curb his growing addiction to the online game PUBG Mobile.
According to police and family members, the 16-year-old was deeply engrossed in the game, spending over 10 hours daily on it. His parents revealed that he often refused to attend school, insisting that academic schedules cut into his gaming time. Concerned about his behavior, the family had sought professional help from both a psychiatrist and a neurosurgeon. However, Rishendra allegedly resisted counseling and even issued threats to the doctor.
When the family finally decided to take away his phone three days ago, the teenager became distraught. On Thursday, unable to cope with being away from the game, he took his own life by hanging himself.

This tragedy comes amid growing reports of gaming addiction in India. Earlier this year, three teenagers in Bihar’s West Champaran district lost their lives after being hit by a train while playing PUBG near railway tracks, wearing earphones that blocked out the sound of the approaching engine. In another case, a cab driver in Hyderabad was filmed playing PUBG on his phone while driving, risking both his life and that of his passengers.
Mental health experts warn that excessive online gaming can have severe consequences, particularly among adolescents. They stress the importance of parental supervision, counseling, and awareness programs to help prevent such devastating incidents.
