Civil Hospital Launches Neurology, Nephrology, Cardiology OPDs in Lucknow

Lucknow's Civil Hospital adds three new super-speciality OPD services.

The Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (Civil) Hospital in Lucknow has expanded its specialised healthcare services with the launch of neurology, nephrology and cardiology outpatient departments (OPDs), officials said on Thursday. The new services have been introduced in coordination with the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), allowing patients to access specialist consultations at the government hospital.

The three super-speciality OPDs are intended to strengthen access to expert medical care for patients in the city and surrounding areas. The expansion is expected to provide consultations for neurological, kidney-related and cardiovascular conditions without requiring patients to travel to other specialised medical institutions for every consultation.

The initiative also includes a dedicated stroke unit as part of efforts to improve treatment for patients experiencing neurological emergencies. A specialised stroke facility can help streamline the assessment and treatment of patients who require urgent medical attention, while coordination with specialists from RMLIMS is expected to strengthen the hospital’s clinical capabilities.

The launch is part of efforts to enhance specialised services at the Civil Hospital and make advanced healthcare more accessible through the existing public health infrastructure. By bringing specialists from different disciplines to the hospital, the arrangement is expected to broaden the range of conditions that can be assessed and managed through its outpatient services.

The neurology OPD will focus on neurological conditions, while nephrology services will cater to patients requiring specialist care for kidney-related disorders. The cardiology OPD will provide specialised consultations for heart-related conditions, giving patients access to specialists across three major areas of healthcare.

The expansion marks an addition to the specialised services available at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital and is aimed at improving access to expert care in Lucknow. The coordination with RMLIMS, along with the dedicated stroke unit, is expected to strengthen the hospital’s ability to provide specialised consultations and support for patients requiring neurological, renal and cardiac care.
