Civil Aviation Ministry Issues Show-Cause Notice to Air India Over Immigration Lapse

The Civil Aviation Ministry has issued a show-cause notice to Air India over alleged procedural lapses that allowed three Italian passengers to board an international connecting flight from Delhi airport without completing the required immigration process, according to sources. The incident, which occurred earlier this month, has prompted authorities to seek explanations from the airline and examine how the passengers were able to proceed through the airport without undergoing the prescribed checks.

The three passengers had travelled from Amritsar to Delhi on an Air India flight on September 4. They subsequently boarded a Lufthansa flight from Delhi to Munich, despite allegedly not completing the immigration formalities required before departing the country on the international sector. The circumstances surrounding their movement between the domestic and international departure areas are being examined by the concerned authorities.

The show-cause notice seeks an explanation from Air India regarding the alleged lapses in procedures and the responsibilities of personnel involved in handling the passengers. Such notices are issued to allow an organisation to respond to allegations before authorities decide whether further action is warranted.
