“Citizens Are True Guardians of the Constitution,” Says UP CM Adityanath on Republic Day
UP CM Adityanath emphasizes citizens as guardians of the Constitution on Republic Day.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday emphasized that the real guardian of India’s Constitution is its citizenry, asserting that every institution, ministry, and department must remain accountable to the people. He made these remarks after unfurling the national flag at his official residence on Kalidas Marg during the 77th Republic Day celebrations.
Adityanath paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad, B.R. Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, highlighting that the Constitution is a sacred document shaped by the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters. He stressed that disrespecting constitutional principles is an insult not just to the law but to the nation’s founders.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the Constitution binds India as a collective, providing inspiration to uphold justice, equality, fraternity, and unity. “No individual can claim to be above the Constitution, the system, or the rule of law,” he said, underscoring the centrality of citizen engagement in democratic governance.

Highlighting his vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’, Adityanath stated that true development must begin at the grassroots and reach the most marginalized. He emphasized that ensuring justice without discrimination and fostering harmony and fraternity are essential for India’s progress toward becoming a developed nation.
Earlier in the day, the CM extended Republic Day greetings via social media, urging citizens to draw inspiration from the Constitution and actively contribute to a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant India. He also addressed the youth, calling on them to uphold constitutional values while contributing to the growth of Uttar Pradesh.
Adityanath concluded that the Constitution embodies the principle of “nation first” and remains the strongest pillar guiding India through challenges. He called on citizens to pledge loyalty to the Constitution, dedication to the nation, and responsibility toward society as part of their patriotic duty.
