Chef Attempts World Record: 5,000 kg Tarri-Poha, Giant Pancake, Bhurji of 100,000 Eggs

Celebrity chef Vishnu Manohar is preparing for another massive culinary challenge as he plans to attempt a world record by cooking 5,000 kilograms of Tarri-Poha, along with a giant pancake and bhurji made using nearly 100,000 eggs. Known for organising large-scale food events across Maharashtra, the chef has built a reputation for creating enormous dishes during cultural and social celebrations.

Manohar has previously cooked several record-sized meals at public events. In April 2024, he prepared 10,000 kilograms of misal during Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti celebrations in Pune. A month later, he recreated the same feat during Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations. He also cooked 10,000 kilograms of halwa for an event hosted in Baramati by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The chef gained widespread attention during the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha celebrations in Ayodhya in January 2024, when he prepared 6,000 kilograms of “Shri Ram Halwa” in his hometown Nagpur. He later travelled to Ayodhya and cooked 7,000 kilograms of Shri Ram Bhog Mahaprasad during events linked to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti and Golwalkar Guruji Jayanti.

Born into a family where his father worked as a commercial artist, Vishnu Manohar entered the catering industry at a young age. He began his journey during a time when wedding meals consisting of pulao, puri, sabji, chhole, gulab jamun and raita were served for just Rs 5 per plate. Over the years, he transformed himself into one of Maharashtra’s most recognised celebrity chefs through food festivals, television appearances and large community cooking events.

With his latest world record attempt, Manohar aims to once again combine food with public celebration on a grand scale. The planned preparation of thousands of kilograms of Tarri-Poha and massive egg bhurji is expected to draw huge crowds and add another milestone to his long list of giant culinary achievements.
