Chandrababu Naidu Meets Singapore PM To Explore Investment And Trade Cooperation
India-Singapore discuss investment and technology cooperation talks.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Monday during an official visit to Singapore, where the two leaders discussed a wide range of potential areas for bilateral cooperation, including technology, infrastructure, and sustainable development. The meeting lasted approximately 30 minutes at the Singapore Prime Minister’s official residence.
During the discussion, Naidu sought Singapore’s support in strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s capabilities in emerging sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and advanced research and development. He also emphasized the importance of capacity building and requested collaboration in developing a semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in the state.
A significant part of the talks focused on urban development and governance, particularly the ongoing development of Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh’s capital city. Naidu highlighted the government’s vision to build Amaravati into a globally benchmarked city with modern infrastructure, educational institutions, and sustainable planning. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Wong expressed appreciation for the progress and vision presented.

The leaders also explored cooperation in sectors beyond technology, including natural farming, aquaculture, food exports, healthcare, clean energy, green hydrogen, and green ammonia. Naidu invited Singapore government-linked companies and private industry stakeholders to participate in Andhra Pradesh’s development initiatives, especially in infrastructure such as ports, airports, and logistics networks.
In addition, Naidu discussed the state’s agricultural initiatives, including efforts to promote natural farming and improve certification and traceability systems for horticultural and aquaculture products. He also proposed the possibility of increasing exports of agricultural produce from Andhra Pradesh to Singapore, subject to quality standards and regulatory approvals.
The meeting also touched upon broader global and social themes, including public health infrastructure, affordable housing, childcare, and demographic challenges such as declining population trends in several countries. Naidu informed the Singapore leadership that Andhra Pradesh is targeting the generation of 160 gigawatts of green energy as part of its long-term sustainability strategy, positioning the state as a hub for clean and renewable energy investments.
