Chandrababu Naidu Approves Rs 37,702 Crore of Work Orders for Amaravati Capital
Amaravati Capital Development Works Worth Rs 37,702 Crore Approved by the TDP Government.
The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Tuesday greenlit development projects worth Rs 37,702.15 crore for Andhra Pradesh’s capital, Amaravati. The CRDA cleared 59 tenders, with work set to begin post-Cabinet approval on March 17, announced Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana.
Briefing the media, Narayana said over 20,000 workers will join the effort next month. Tenders for 73 projects totaling Rs 48,012 crore have already been floated with prior Cabinet backing. Of Tuesday’s approvals, 22 CRDA projects cost Rs 22,607.11 crore, while 37 Amaravati Development Corporation works are pegged at Rs 15,095.04 crore. Land allocations from 2014–2019 were finalized for 31 organizations, with location changes approved for two and extended deadlines for 11 others.
Narayana projected Amaravati’s total development cost at Rs 64,000 crore, assuring no taxpayer funds will be used. The CRDA holds 6,203 surplus acres from farmer-acquired land, with 1,900 acres earmarked for organizations. Revenue from mortgaging or selling this land will finance construction. Already, a Rs 15,000 crore World Bank loan is secured, with Rs 11,000 crore more planned from HUDCO and Rs 5,000 crore from other banks, totaling Rs 31,000 crore in loans. Rising land values post-development will help repay these, Narayana added.
Spanning 53,500 acres, Amaravati’s blueprint reserves 30% for green and blue spaces, balancing urban growth with sustainability. The approvals signal a bold revival of Naidu’s vision for a world-class capital, stalled since 2019, now poised to transform Andhra’s economic landscape.
