“Celebrate Unified India, Not Uniform India,” TN CM Stalin Urges on Republic Day

TN CM Stalin urges celebration of a unified, diverse India on Republic Day.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday called for Republic Day to be celebrated as a reflection of a united India, not a uniform one. In his message, he stressed that the nation’s strength lies in its diversity, where multiple cultures, languages, and identities coexist with pride and mutual respect.

Taking a veiled reference to the central government, Stalin said, “India moves forward when every citizen can live with dignity, confidence, and freedom. Let’s celebrate a unified India. Not a uniform India.” He highlighted that India’s progress depends on protecting diversity, which fosters a sense of belonging for all citizens.

Stalin’s message focused on inclusivity and collective growth. “Our strength has never been sameness. It has always been our many-ness. When diversity is protected, the future stays open to everyone equally,” he said. He also encouraged Tamil Nadu’s citizens to march together towards prosperity, leaving no one behind.

Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi also extended Republic Day greetings, urging citizens to commit to the principle of “nation first” and work towards a self-reliant, developed India by 2047. He paid tribute to freedom fighters and members of the Constituent Assembly for crafting India’s resilient Constitution.

The Governor highlighted India’s democratic legacy, citing historical practices like the Uttaramerur inscriptions as examples of participatory governance. He also lauded Tamil Nadu’s development through central projects, including railway modernizations and Vande Bharat train connectivity, which enhance trade, mobility, and employment opportunities.

Ravi concluded by emphasizing the importance of cultural unity and youth participation. “Our languages and culture bring people together, fostering understanding and harmony. I urge all sections of society—youth, women, farmers, artisans—to commit to nation first and contribute to building a self-reliant India by 2047,” he said.
