#BreakingNews: Car Explosion Near Red Fort Kills 8, Injures 24; Multiple States on High Alert
Car blast near Delhi Red Fort kills 8, injures 24; multiple states increase patrols and border security.
A powerful explosion inside a parked white Maruti Swift Dzire near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi’s bustling Chandni Chowk area killed eight people and injured 24 others on the evening of November 10, 2025. The blast, which occurred around 6:55 PM, ripped the vehicle apart, hurling shrapnel across the crowded tourist hub and igniting fires in three to four nearby cars. All eight victims—seven men and one woman—were declared dead on arrival at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Suresh Kumar confirmed to ANI. Of the 24 injured, three remain in serious condition, while one is stable.
Delhi Fire Services rushed 20 fire tenders to the scene, bringing the blaze under control by 7:29 PM. CRPF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Anil Kumar immediately reached the spot to oversee security operations alongside Delhi Police and National Security Guard commandos. The area was swiftly cordoned off, with Gates 1 and 2 of the metro station sealed and traffic diverted. Forensic experts and bomb disposal squads began collecting evidence from the mangled wreckage, as shattered glass, twisted metal, and scattered debris bore witness to the blast’s intensity. Preliminary probes suggest a possible improvised explosive device, though investigators are also examining the possibility of a CNG cylinder rupture.
The explosion triggered an immediate high alert across the national capital and neighbouring states. Union Home Minister Amit Shah received a detailed briefing from Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and Intelligence Bureau officials. Security was intensified in Mumbai, every district of Uttar Pradesh, Dehradun, Rajasthan’s border regions, and along the Indo-Nepal frontier, where BSF and local police stepped up vehicle checks and patrols. The incident comes just a day after Haryana Police seized nearly 2,900 kg of explosives in Faridabad and arrested suspects linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror module, prompting heightened suspicion of a coordinated threat.

As the NIA formally took over the investigation into potential terror angles, CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being scrutinised and witness statements recorded. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena are closely monitoring developments, with authorities urging the public to avoid the Red Fort-Chandni Chowk stretch and remain vigilant. The blast—the first major incident of its kind in Delhi in over a decade—has cast a shadow over the festive season, underscoring urgent vulnerabilities in one of the capital’s most iconic and heavily visited locations.
