BMW F 450 GS to Launch in India on April 23; Price May Exceed Rs 5 Lakh

BMW F 450 GS launches India April 23 with 420cc twin engine made by TVS.

BMW Motorrad is all set to launch the F 450 GS in India on April 23, making it the first motorcycle of the brand to feature the new 450 cc platform. Ahead of the official launch, BMW released a teaser of the adventure bike on social media, sparking excitement among enthusiasts.

Many users began speculating about the bike’s pricing, with estimates ranging between Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, while others suggested an on-road price close to Rs 6 lakh. At present, these figures remain unconfirmed, but competitive pricing is expected since the model will be manufactured domestically in India by TVS. For comparison, its closest rival, the KTM 390 Adventure, is priced at Rs 3.96 lakh (ex-showroom).

Globally, the BMW F 450 GS is listed at 7,220 euro (approximately Rs 7.79 lakh) in Germany. However, prices in India may vary due to factors like taxes, import duties, and local manufacturing costs. The international pricing suggests that BMW may adopt a premium pricing strategy for the Indian market, positioning the F 450 GS as a high-end middle-weight adventure motorcycle.

The F 450 GS is powered by a 420 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine producing 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed transmission and BMW’s Shift Assistant Pro, allowing clutchless upshifts and downshifts for smoother and faster riding. Globally, the model is offered in four trims: Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and Trophy. While the Trophy variant includes BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) as standard, this comfort-enhancing feature can be optionally added to other trims to improve riding dynamics.

With local manufacturing, BMW hopes to keep the bike competitively priced while maintaining its premium image.

With anticipation building in the motorcycle community, enthusiasts are eager to see how the F 450 GS compares to rivals like the KTM 390 Adventure in terms of performance, features, and pricing once it officially hits Indian roads on April 23.
