BJP’s Service-Driven Politics: PM Modi Champions UCC and One Nation One Election
PM Modi stresses UCC and One Nation One Election, presenting BJP’s service-oriented agenda as transformative.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) efforts to reshape Indian politics, emphasising initiatives such as the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and One Nation One Election (ONOE) as part of the party’s “service-oriented” approach. Speaking via video conferencing to BJP workers on the party’s 47th foundation day, Modi outlined achievements and ongoing reforms aimed at nation-building.
The Prime Minister cited a series of landmark initiatives, including the abolition of colonial-era laws, construction of a new Parliament building, 10 percent reservation for economically weaker sections, the triple talaq ban, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and the Ram temple construction in Ayodhya. “These are the results of BJP’s honest efforts, and our mission is still ongoing,” Modi said, stressing that the party continues to pursue reforms for a self-reliant and developed India.
Modi also pointed to the BJP’s future agenda, noting that discussions around the UCC and ONOE reflect a commitment to national integration and efficient governance. He urged party workers to embrace technological changes and brainstorm new goals as the BJP approaches its 50th anniversary, calling the milestone a “huge inspiration” for continued service.

The Prime Minister contrasted the BJP’s approach with past Congress regimes, citing the 1984 era when Congress won a record number of seats but, according to him, failed to uphold public trust. “With our arrival, two streams became clear in the country’s politics: one stream became power-based, while the other became service-based,” he said, emphasizing the party’s principle of “Nation First.”
He further underscored BJP’s diplomatic successes, stating that India now builds relations with all nations, unlike in the past when the country kept a distance from many. Modi also highlighted the party’s organisational ethos, noting that BJP gives equal respect to all, in contrast to Congress’s family-centric approach.
Founded on April 6, 1980, after splitting from the Janata Party, the BJP traces its origins to the Jana Sangh. Since its formation, the party has produced two Prime Ministers, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi, and has grown into one of India’s leading political forces, with its current focus on governance, reform, and national integration.
