BJP Wins Karimnagar Municipal Corporation; Bandi Sanjay Kumar Praises PM Modi's Leadership

BJP's Karimnagar civic victory is hailed as historic by Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who targets Hyderabad next.

Union Minister of State and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation elections as “historic”, asserting that the party’s next political target would be Hyderabad. Addressing supporters after the Telangana municipal poll results were declared, Kumar said the outcome marked a significant milestone for the BJP in the state.

“For the first time in Telangana, we have hoisted the saffron flag over a municipal corporation. Today, I am overwhelmed with happiness,” Kumar said. Following the announcement of results, BJP workers held victory rallies and celebrated enthusiastically, with party leaders crediting the win to grassroots mobilisation and voter support.

Kumar alleged that rival parties—the Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and AIMIM—had attempted to prevent the BJP’s victory. He claimed efforts were made to influence voters and candidates through inducements but said the party ultimately prevailed. According to him, the electorate backed the BJP’s development agenda and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the Centre’s role, Kumar said the Union government had invested around ₹1,500 crore in Karimnagar’s development in recent years. He argued that voters supported the BJP, believing it would accelerate infrastructure and civic improvements in the region.

The minister also criticised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, alleging political motivations behind administrative decisions related to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. He claimed such moves would politically backfire on the state leadership.

Looking ahead, Kumar said the BJP was preparing aggressively for upcoming civic contests. “We will hoist the saffron flag over the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri corporations,” he said, adding that party workers were ready for the next electoral battle. In the broader municipal results, the Congress secured the largest share of wards across municipalities, while the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the Karimnagar and Nizamabad municipal corporations.
