BJP Launches One Lakh Cataract Surgeries To Mark PM Modi’s Birthday
BJP plans 1 lakh cataract surgeries for PM Modi's birthday.
In a grand gesture to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra has launched an ambitious fortnight-long initiative to perform over one lakh cataract surgeries across the state, announced state BJP president Ravindra Chavan during a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday. Running from September 17 to October 2, the campaign also aims to conduct eye check-ups for at least 10 lakh people and distribute spectacles to those in need, showcasing the party’s commitment to public welfare.
Chavan revealed that the initiative will involve collaboration with NGOs, social organizations, and other groups to ensure its success. “This is not just a health drive but a way to connect with the people of Maharashtra,” he said, emphasizing the BJP’s focus on service-driven governance.
In addition to cataract surgeries and eye check-ups, the campaign will include blood donation camps and a series of 17 programs designed to engage communities across the state. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has personally overseen preparations, holding meetings with state ministers and BJP leaders to ensure seamless execution.
Addressing criticism from opposition parties about Maharashtra’s financial challenges, Chavan dismissed their concerns, stating, “We are focused on delivering what the people need—roti, kapda, aur makaan. Our path is clear, and we will continue to work for the common good.” He highlighted the campaign as a reflection of the BJP’s dedication to improving lives, regardless of political noise.
